Mozart – Just imagination?
Scrutinise, discover, explore – Aimed at getting to the heart of the matter, these are the crucial elements of the Mozartfest. Every year, a multi-facetted range of options are offered to students of the arts, musicology, musical journalism, cultural sciences and culture management. Entering into interdisciplinary exchanges of views is part of it, as are encounters with eminent artists, academics and media professionals. The work done by and with up-and-coming musical talents at various levels will form a constituent part of the Mozartfest in 2021, too.
For 2021, the film »Mozart searches« has been produced in close cooperation between the Mozartfest and the Institute for Musical Journalism, Radio, TV and Internet at Karlsruhe University of Music. Taking a young perspective and deploying the latest techniques, this film pursues the idea of confronting Mozart with our present digital times and at the same time also with himself. The film can be viewed on our YouTube channel.
In 2021, a scholarship programme connected to the IMAGINE MOZART | MOZART BILDER exhibition and the »How much Mozart do people need?« series of lectures is aimed at students from different disciplines. At the interfaces between aesthetic experience and critical discourse, young culture-creators are given an opportunity to attend events and to directly exchange news and views with each other and with the contributors to the Mozartfest and the lecture series.
In its centenary season, the Mozartfest will become an experiential platform for an intensive exchange of views among young composers. During the festival time, Isabel Mundry will go into seclusion with up-and-coming composers in Würzburg. »How does Mozart’s music speak to us – if, indeed, it does? In what ways are we turning towards or away from it?« These are the questions that Isabel Mundry will ask, inviting the participants to elucidate their answers on the basis of their own compositions and to think about new artistic forms of cultural remembrance.
