Evelyn Meining

Artistic Director

Evelyn Meining has been artistic director of the Mozartfest Würzburg since 2013. The city extended her contract for another six years until 2029 on the occasion of the Mozartfest's centenary in 2021.
Under her leadership, the Mozartfest was awarded the Opus Klassik in the category Audience and Participation Projects.
She was also honoured by Minister President Markus Söder with the Bavarian Order of Merit "for outstanding services to the Free State of Bavaria and the Bavarian people".

Since 2020, she has served on the jury for the Bavarian State Prize for Music and on the review committee for the Bavarian Arts Promotion Awards in the field of music.
Evelyn Meining teaches in the field of cultural management and music business. She has been a member of the University Council at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 2016 and was elected chairperson there in October 2021. She is also Chairwoman of the Foundation Board of the Wilhelm Kempff Kulturstiftung (Berlin/Positano).

From 1999 to 2013 she was programme director and authorised signatory at the Rheingau Music Festival, responsible for the conceptual and financial planning as well as the artistic design of the programme with approximately 160 concerts annually. In this position, she was involved in international cultural networks such as the European Festivals Association, Gent. From 2008 to 2012, she was also responsible for all concerts of the Pro Arte Frankfurter Konzertdirektion at the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
From 1994 to 1999 she worked as orchestra and concert manager at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where she was still responsible for the conception of the chamber concerts until 2011.

She received her artistic training at the Dresden University of Music, majoring in singing with a diploma in vocal pedagogy, and was engaged as a singer at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden. This was followed by postgraduate studies in cultural management at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg.
