Evelyn Meining

Artistic Director

Evelyn Meining has since the 2014 season been Artistic Director of the Mozartfest Würzburg. The city of Würzburg has extended her contract beyond 2018 for another five years up to 2023, so that Evelyn Meining will in 2021 be responsible for the 100th anniversary of Germany’s oldest Mozartfest.

From 1999 to 2013, she was Program Director and an authorised signatory at the Rheingau Music Festival, responsible for conceptual and financial planning, and for the artistic content of the program, with its approximately 160 concerts every year. In this position, she was involved in international cultural networks like the European Festivals Association in Ghent. She was also responsible from 2008 to 2012 for all the concerts of Pro Arte Frankfurter Konzertdirektion at the Old Opera House in Frankfurt.

From 1994 to 1999, she worked as the Orchestra and Concert Manager at the State Theatre in Darmstadt, where up to 2011 she was still responsible for the conception of the chamber music concerts.

She received her artistic education at the University for Music in Dresden, majoring in singing, and was engaged as a singer by the Saxon State Opera Company in Dresden. This was followed by a post-graduate diploma in cultural management at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Hamburg.

Evelyn Meining is a lecturer in the Cultural Management Faculty at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Mannheim and at the University of Music in Karlsruhe, where she is Deputy Chairperson of the University Council.
